Roosevelt Admissions Overview
Roosevelt Science and Technology admissions, step by step.
Your student's current school decides whether you apply at all. Your home address decides which Science and Technology site is possible. Start with those two.
Checked against Eleanor Roosevelt's published admissions pages on November 5, 2026.
Who can apply
Who applies.
Check your student's current school first. It decides whether there is anything to submit.
- Current PGCPS 8th graders
- Current PGCPS 8th graders do not fill out an application. PGCPS considers every current PGCPS 8th grader automatically, as long as the student has taken the PSAT 8/9.
- Who must apply
- Current PGCPS 9th graders and 8th or 9th graders who attend a school outside PGCPS must apply. Families apply through the PGCPS application process and need a PGCPS student information number.
- Private and homeschooled
- Private school and homeschool applicants complete the Google Form linked on the ERHS Science and Technology admissions page. The PGCPS chart also lists an essay for homeschool and private school students.
- Your home address
- A student can only attend the Science and Technology site that serves the family's legal address. Placement among the three sites follows the student's boundary zip code.
- Northern boundary
- Only students who live within the northern boundary of PGCPS are admitted to Eleanor Roosevelt. Families can check their address in the PGCPS School Finder.
- Siblings
- A sibling who is not admitted to Science and Technology attends the family's boundary school. Admission of one child does not move a sibling into the program.
- 01
Use the PGCPS School Finder with your home address before anything else.
- 02
If a page and the school disagree, ask PGCPS in writing and keep the reply.
The application
What the process includes.
- Where to apply
- Families apply for specialty programs through the PGCPS applications page. A PGCPS student information number is required.
- When the window opens
- The application window for students outside PGCPS and current PGCPS 9th graders opens in August and closes in early October. PGCPS says the dates change each year, so check the PGCPS applications page for the exact window for fall 2027.
- How selection works
- A student's eligibility is based on two things: the PSAT 8/9 score and the grade point average (GPA).
- Grade 10 openings
- Grade 10 openings are limited. Applicants for Grade 10 must apply and compete for the spots that are open.
- After the decision
- Eligible and waitlisted families are invited to a spring open house. Accepted and waitlisted students must complete an intent form.
